Howdy,
Came across your site a few weeks ago and was intrigued by someone else who stills enjoys finding coins in circulation, and not just peering at coins in slabs.

Seeing the last three coins you posted, all Jefferson nickels, just reminds me how unenthused I was with the reveal of the current obverse. Not that the original Jefferson portrait was dynamic, but I was much more impressed with the single year design on the 2005 obverse. The cleaned-up reverse of the new nickels does provide for sharp examples of Monticello though.

The reason Nickels get posted so often is that they are, by far, the most common change in my pocket. Not that I've had time to post any thing all that often, or regularly, lately. I agree about the updated Jefferson portrait. The new one is… well… uninspiring. Of the contemporary Nickels the 2004 'Peace Medal' is by far my favorite.
But, yeah. I love digging thought my change every day and while I do buy coins I avoid slabs. For me holding the coin is a big part of the experience.

I'm also a coin collector, and I also agree with those statements of yours; the new nickel just doesn't have the flair and ubiquity as the old ones.
I've also noticed that the new nickels are getting sparser. Maybe they aren't popular with the public either?
