I've wanted one of these of quite a while… and finally found a low grade (i.e. affordable) example at the Contra Costa Coin show! With the addition of this Twenty Cent piece I now have at least one of every non-gold circulating U.S. coin!
Authorized by the Act of March 3rd 1875 the Twenty Cent piece was a very short lived coin. It was minted for circulation for only two years (1875-1876) followed by two more years of proof only minting. Unfortunately the coin was a bit to similar to the Quarter Dollar. At only 2.3 Millimeters smaller and with the same Seated Liberty design on the obverse the public found it too easy to confuse the two coins. The 1875-S is, by far, the most affordable and readily available of the set with over a million pieces struck in San Francisco that year.
