This weekends coin was selected because, oddly enough, the topic of Large Cents came up at my wife's birthday dinner last night. There we were, with fifteen non numismatically inclined friends when someone mentions that they have a friend who is using a metal detector to search old sites specifically for a 1842 large cent (it's possible that I'm miss-remembering the particular year due to the 'all you can drink wine that was served with dinner'). So, with large cents on the brain I had to dig one out for the vintage post.
